The thing is this song is about growing up in times where people had very little but wanted everything - thode young boys wanted to have the forbiden stardom they heard about. People would have family abroad (it was neraly. Impossivle to travel) that would sometime send thins over and instead of traveling thy would colect postcards from other people and buy "forbidden" international music and share illegal copies of books or magazines. Thats why hr mentions hearing Elvis on an radio in the basement in seacret. Also they would also be teen having big dream but doing same things - having friends, falling in love, have little home parties where they shared a drink or a cigarette. It is a song about growing up when parents worked a lot and hard for very little money.

The singer is just very good. But the fat bearded guitarist - composer is trully amazing. The song appealed to the peers of the band members - showing average teenager's (and in the last stanza - a rock star) life against history of 1950s, and 60s and 1970s. And because of the powerful melody and legendary status (also as kind of rebels) of the band - it appealed to the teens and kids who grew up with the band. By the same band - "Biała mysz, a kysz!", "Lokomotywa", "Chce mi się z czegoś śmiać" "Co za hałas, co za szum" (my favorite from them), "Druga czytanka dla Janka" and "Pocztówka do Państwa Jareckich" both about generation gap and teenage mutiny. The band dessolved pretty quickly after bad blood among members, to be reunited a decade later without its founder/leader, the main composer/arranger - Zbigniew Hołdys (more bad blood, as they retained the name and still played the hits composed by him). Later, it's enjoyed a few hits, mainly ballad type (one becoming even a new generation anthem), but I don't think they've aver regained the power and compositional skill from before the break up. Their album 'UNU" became legendary - great music, lyrics, production (to me, beside Deep Purple's "Perfect Strangers", it's the best produced rock album of the 20th century - perfect richness of sound and balances between instruments), but also for political reasons: UNU was a typical letter code for military vehicles licence plates and the album was realeased during the Martial Law period, where the army patrolled the streets. A legendary band with quite a lot amazing songs, but especially loved for their live performances - the singer Grzegorz Markowski was probably the first mains stream performer to sing topless in Poland. Well, we did have some world class acts in 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s who never made it through to the world. One band could have their shot, but they refused to play support to a rising disco star tour - that young girl they tought would be beneath them to play support for was Madonna for her "True Blue" tour. Well... Who needs a world career?

Firstly. As a Polish nation, we have never had anything to do with the trade of black people from Africa. Then you learn the language aurally and you can also count on someone from that nation correcting your speaking mistakes. Names of note in this film: Leon Niemczyk (very popular also in German cinematography and television, may well be a world record holder for the number of main and support roles combines), Mieczysław Karewicz (beloved in Poland for his role as a ruthlsess and very cunning Nazi SS officer in a WWII spy series "Stakes higher than life"), Mieczysław Voit, Ludwik Benoit, Stanisław Jasiński, Henryk Borowski ( a true master of support roles), Cezary Julski (a master, known mainly for his comedic roles), Andrzej Szaławski (who played here amazingly the tragic role of Jurand of Spychov). The whole film, based on a novel of the same title by a Nobel prize winner - Henryk Sienkiewicz, is a great story of war, politics, romance, treachery and life in the medieval powerful United Kingdom of Poland and Lithuania. The countries' union took place when Great Duke of Lithuania - Jagiełło - married the 12-year-old Polish Queen (by title: King) - Jadwiga (who took the throne when she was 10). This happened roughly 25 years before the battle. Even though Jagiello had been Lithuanian Duke and was brother to the concurrent Duke of Lithuania it still required some smart politics on his part to acquire such huge support of Lithuanian forces for the war. Polish historic cinema is a genre of its own and a vast majority of films are highly enjoyable, with good sccreenplays, great directorship, masterclass camerawork and phenomenal acting. F/X are low-budget, but often much more realistic than in Hollywood productions (most of explosions in WWII movies are "as they were" - shrapnels, dirt, some smoke and loud noise, but no balls of fire).
